Application Methods for the Foundry Coating Product Series
Alcohol-based coating
The product is primarily designed for brush application; when diluted with alcohol, it can also be used for immersion or spraying processes. The required viscosity, however, should first be determined through testing. As a general guideline, aim for a viscosity of 12–15 seconds (using a 4 mm nozzle and DIN viscosity cup).
Coating can be dried either by burning or baking. If burning is chosen, ignite the coating immediately after brushing and allow it to dry slowly. If the coating remains unignited or burns unevenly due to excessive drying time post-brushing, lightly sprinkle a small amount of alcohol onto the surface before attempting to light it again.
When applying the coating to large, flat sand molds (or cores), consider using a localized brushing-and-drying approach—apply the coating in specific areas, then ignite those same areas individually for efficient drying. Before use, ensure thorough mixing to achieve a uniform coating consistency.
The product is classified as flammable. Therefore, safety precautions must be observed during storage and use—ensure the environment remains well-ventilated and dry. When igniting or handling the coating for combustion, always follow safety protocols. It’s best to avoid inhaling the solution; if the solution comes into contact with your eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.
Water-based paint
Before using the product, stir thoroughly. If it’s too thick, you can add a small amount of water to thin it out. The product is suitable for brushing, spraying, and flow-coating applications. To dry the coating, use an oven-drying method with temperatures ranging from 150°C to 500°C. If air-drying with a blowtorch or gas flame, avoid directing the flame directly onto localized areas of the coating to prevent overheating.
It's best to avoid inhaling the paint, and the paint should be stored in a cool, indoor location to prevent freezing.
